Commissioned by the Barkada Saxophone Quartet

Program Note

I began this work in the early January 2015 days of the senseless a@ack on the offices of Charlie Hebdo in Paris. The music uses mo@os derived from "Charlie Hebdoʺ and ʺJe suis Charlie.ʺ More directly, the music is expressive, mournful, stunned, outraged, and at times exhibits an emphasis on freedom of expression, reflected by increased independence among the players.
